GEORGIAN BAY BIOSPHERE RESERVE
Spanning 347,000 protected hectares from Port Severn to the French River, the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve (GBBR) is an international eco model of open water, sheltered bays, islands, coastal wetlands, bedrock shores, sand and cobble beaches, lush foliage and forests. Integrating protected areas (provincial and national parks) with surrounding buffer zones (Crown Lands) and communities that support sustainable development, the Biosphere is home to more than 1,000 distinct, often rare, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and plants including Eastern Wolves and Foxes, Snapping Turtles, Eagles, Warblers and Butterflies.
